The saltwater is evaporated in rock or mountain rock basins that naturally contain iron oxide, resulting in large, reddish salt crystals. Plus, it&#8217;s packed with 80 different naturally occurring minerals, including potassium and magnesium.  <\/p>\n<p>Alea Red salt is a significant product in local cuisine and beyond \u2013 Hawaiians have used this salt for years to clean utensils and consecrate their temples and homes.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that a large portion of Alea Red salt is produced in California, not sourced from Hawaii. Authentic Alea Red is expensive and sometimes hard to get outside of Hawaii.
