Description
Nepal, often called the roof of the world, is one of the highest countries along with Tibet. There, at the foot of the Himalayas, grows one of the world’s rarest peppers – Cumeo citrus pepper, also known as mountain grapefruit pepper.
Local farmers harvest the fruits of a shrub that can reach up to five meters in height – Cumeo pepper. After harvesting, the peppers are dried in special kilns.
Cumeo pepper has a unique aroma of grapefruit, lime, lemon balm, and pomelo, with a mild spiciness and a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. Cumeo citrus pepper is perfect for Asian dishes, fish (and other seafood), and chicken meals, but it’s just as delicious in fruit desserts and pastries. Combining Cumeo pepper with other peppers creates a fantastic flavor profile.
We always recommend grinding or crushing Cumeo pepper in a mortar before cooking and adding it to your dish just before it’s ready!
