Norwegian Havsno Seaweed & Sea Salt Flakes

Following an ancient tradition, a small family business in Norway harvests the finest sea salt flakes from the North Sea – these flakes are also known as sea snow! The salt flakes are crunchy with a distinctly strong salty taste, but that’s not all! The salt flakes are enhanced with brown seaweed (100 g of product contains 20 g of seaweed), sourced from shallow, clean Atlantic waters in northern Norway. The seaweed is subtly sweet (containing mannitol* – a natural and sweet substance known as sugar alcohol), with a distinctive flavor and high protein content.

This seaweed salt, with its pronounced umami flavor, will perfectly complement fresh salads, seafood, as well as vegetable and pasta dishes.

*Mannitol content in brown seaweed depends on weather conditions and the depth at which the seaweed is found in seawater. Mannitol is chemically a sugar alcohol, and it is absorbed significantly slower in the intestinal tract than sucrose, thus providing fewer kilocalories to the body. Compared to glucose, mannitol raises blood sugar levels only moderately and practically does not contribute to weight gain.
