Description
Don’t confuse this with regular garden basil! Holy basil, or tulsi, shares the name of the well-known basil but is completely different in taste. First of all, you can make an incredibly delicious and exceptionally valuable tea from tulsi! This plant belongs to the adaptogen group, meaning it can protect your body and health in unfavorable conditions (stressful situations, increased workload, etc.).
Studies show that tulsi helps prevent fatigue and improves memory and concentration. Drinking the tea in the evening will promote better sleep. Several observations suggest that holy basil aids recovery from bronchitis and gastritis.
To make a delicious tea, just pour hot water over 1 tsp of the herb and let it steep for a few minutes. You can add honey or lemon to taste, and perhaps a slice of fresh ginger.
Tulsi is also a great and aromatic herb. Try adding it to your menu in soups, meat dishes, and legumes. It’s delicious in a sour cream sauce (just chop it well beforehand) as a dip for fresh vegetables.
Why holy basil? Likely because of the plant’s countless valuable properties that are essential for maintaining good health!
In many sources, holy basil is also called the king of all herbs!
