Description
Mustard seeds are a rich source of oil, magnesium, omega-3, phosphorus, copper, B vitamins, and protein. The selenium they contain helps reduce asthma symptoms, some symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, and protects your body against cancer. Black mustard is the sharpest, and white mustard (actually yellow in color) is the mildest, used to make yellow American mustard. Meanwhile, brown mustard, which is actually dark yellow, is used to make Dijon mustard. White mustard seeds are primarily used in European and American cuisine, either fresh or roasted.
HOW TO USE: Yellow mustard seeds are most often used for marinating and preserving, or when preparing beef or vegetables. They’re also great for salmon, chicken, millet, and rice. You can make your own mustard by soaking ground seeds in wine vinegar or water. Combined with honey, mustard creates a sweet and spicy sauce.
MANASGARŠAS.LV TIP: Try making an aromatic mustard-honey marinade for chicken! Add cold water to ground mustard seeds (let the ground seeds soak for 10-15 minutes). Then add honey (the same amount as mustard seeds), wine vinegar, and a little good quality oil. You can enrich the marinade with chopped herbs, garlic, pepper, and salt. Brush this mixture over the meat.
