Description
The nutty, peppery flavor of cumin seeds enriches various chilis and other Mexican dishes. They also play a major role in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, where they are a key ingredient in curry powder. Use cumin seeds both whole and ground. The spice looks similar to caraway, as both belong to the same genus.
USAGE: You can add cumin seeds to brown rice along with apricots and almonds. Use them in vegetable dishes, or add them to beans and lentils. You can also make a warming cumin tea. Combined with black pepper and honey, they create a special seasoning for vegetable, chicken, and fish dishes. Middle Eastern cooks believe this combination has an aphrodisiac effect.
MANASGARSAS.LV RECOMMENDATION: Try adding coarsely crushed cumin seeds to a potato and bean bake.
