Description
Cardamom originated in South India and is mostly grown in Guatemala. Its seed pods are harvested, each containing aromatic, pungent seeds. Before use, it’s best to lightly toast the seeds in a dry pan (just don’t burn them!) and then crush them in a mortar or grind them in a coffee grinder. This will better release their essential oils, allowing you to fully enjoy cardamom’s magical and gently spicy flavor.
USAGE: Cardamom seeds are a staple spice in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines, used to prepare meat, fish, and vegetables. Cardamom is also perfect for desserts, gingerbread dough, mulled wine, coffee, and other beverages.
MANASGARSAS.LV TIP: Try adding cardamom to marzipan cookies and enjoy the perfect flavor match!
