Description
In cooking, we use the young leaves and shoots of wild or cultivated plants, either fresh or dried. The essential oil in peppermint contains menthol (~50%). Thanks to its refreshing effect and pleasant, fresh taste, this plant is used for more than just food. Peppermint is also one of those plants with a very wide range of medicinal uses.
HOW TO USE: Peppermint is used for making cocktails, kvass, and tea, and as an additive to salads, vegetable, meat, fish, and sweet dishes. Peppermint adds a unique flavour to groat sausages and various sauces. Peppermint holds a special place in English cuisine – it’s added to lamb sauce. In other countries, it’s popular to add peppermint to tomato juice and various salads. In Italy and France, this herb is included in a wide variety of spice blends.
MANASGARŠAS.LV TIP: Prepare the world-renowned Mint Sauce from dried peppermint, white wine vinegar, sugar, and salt – it tastes amazing with meat dishes!
