Description
Wiri-Wiri cherry chili is a rare South American variety originating from Guyana, though today it’s primarily grown in Ecuador. The warm and humid tropical climate allows these deep red chilies to ripen evenly, giving them an intense fruity and tomato-like aroma.
Wiri-wiri cherry chili enriches dishes with a distinct, well-balanced, and long-lasting heat without bitterness, comparable to the spiciness of habanero chilies.
In Guyanese, Caribbean, and South American cuisine, Wiri-wiri cherry chilies are added to stews, braised dishes, curries, soups, and spicy sauces. They serve as an aromatic base for hot sauces, chutneys, and marinades for meat, fish, or vegetables, as well as homemade chili pastes, spice blends, and chili oils.
Wiri-wiri cherry chili heat: 80,000–150,000 Scoville heat units.
