Blue Fenugreek (ground)

Price range: 0,70 € through 6,32 €

Blue Fenugreek, named after the color of its flowers, is an ancient, traditional spice often added to cheeses and sauces. It’s gained popularity and recognition in Switzerland, where its unique flavour makes it a key ingredient in traditional Glarus (“Schabziger”) cheese. You can also find it in some regional rye breads in the Southern Alps.

Blue Fenugreek is widely used in Georgian cuisine, where it’s known as “utskho suneli”. It’s one of the ingredients in the Georgian spice blend “khmeli suneli” (also available from us!), and it’s added to Svanetian salt blends along with coriander and marigold petals. Both the seeds, pods, and leaves of this herb are used in spice mixes. Its aroma and taste are milder than regular fenugreek, and its flavour makes it ideal for curry spice blends.
