Description
In cooking, the young leaves and shoots of wild or cultivated peppermint are used fresh or dried. The essential oil in peppermint contains menthol (~50%). Thanks to its refreshing effect and pleasant, fresh taste, this plant is used not only in food. Peppermint is also one of those plants with a very wide range of applications in medicine.
USAGE: Peppermint is used for making cocktails, kvass, and tea, as well as an additive to salads, vegetable, meat, fish, and sweet dishes. Peppermint adds a unique flavor to groat sausages and various sauces. Peppermint holds a special place in English cuisine, where it’s added to lamb sauce. In other countries, it’s popular to add peppermint to tomato juice and various salads. In Italy and France, this plant is included in a wide variety of spice blends.
