Sweet Fennel Seeds

Description

Fennel seeds have a strong, sweet-spicy flavor and an anise aroma. Fennel is one of the main ingredients in absinthe. The essential oil found abundantly in the seeds has antiseptic and antispasmodic properties; it prevents fermentation and bloating in the gut, promotes expectoration, and supports lactation.

USAGE: Fennel seeds, as well as the leaves, can be added to both salads and sauces. The seeds pair well with meat and fish dishes, as well as marinades and homemade mayonnaises. They enhance the aroma of vegetable stews and soups and are also used for making tea. Additionally, fennel is added to pea and bean dishes, various homemade doughs, and traditional spice blends.
