Description
This is our take on the “Chinese Five Spice” bouquet and, honestly, the boldest blend in our history. Why? Because for a long time, we couldn’t figure out how to successfully combine Green Sichuan pepper and star anise in a single spice mix.
The world-famous Chinese Five Spice blend is known for being warm, cozy, and a perfect match for BBQ treats, grilled veggies, wok dishes, noodles, and even desserts. Pork belly is especially delicious when prepared with this blend mixed with Teriyaki sauce or honey, lemon/lime, and a bit of salt. It’s also great for turkey, duck, or chicken (especially wings)—just let it marinate in honey, lemon/lime, this blend, and a pinch of salt. Feel free to use soy sauce too.
In the US, this Chinese Five Spice blend is often made without Sichuan pepper, while the original recipe usually calls for the reddish-brown variety. In our recipe, we’ve included Green Sichuan pepper—now it’s time to start experimenting in the kitchen!
